Our dairy is a protest against synthetic,
in a world of palm oil and plastic, we choose the slow way, artisan soap
crafted from the rich, golden milk of our rare breed guernseys.

We are committed to a zero-compromise formula – no hidden chemicals, no environmental cost, just the healing power of botanicals and the legendary creaminess of the golden guernsey, we don’t just make soap we cultivate a cleaner way of living.

  • Barley farm is position in north Lancashire, in a tiny, historic, rural village within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales, the Trough of Bowland and the Lake District National Park.

Our Soaps

All our soap bars are rich in moisturising fats, vitamins A, D & E, mineral and gently exfoliating lactic acid (AHA)

Palm oil, plastic, chemical, fragrance, foaming agents, etc free from any 'nasties'.

Hand crafted with the milk from our Royal Golden Guernsey Goats herd and a select blend of oils and botanicals

Our Golden Bar soaps -

  • Naked – The Purest Expression - no scents, no colours, no botanicals, just the raw, legendary creaminess of golden guernsey milk and our skin loving base oils, this bar celebrates the breed in its simplest form allowing the natural minerals and vitamins of the milk to do all the work
  • Wild Nettle and Mint – The Morning Wake Up – harnessing the power of the hedgerow, infused with nettle a traditional remedy for
    inflammation, combined with a crisp hint of mint, to stimulate circulation and wake up the senses
  • Colloidal Oats and Raw Honey – The Soother – our most comforting, designed for skin that needs a gentle hug – its creamy, lightly exfoliating lather calms redness and locks in moisture
  • Activated Charcoal - The Deep Cleanse – Dot let the colour fool you this bar is incredibly silky, activated charcoal acts as a magnet for toxins and excess oils, drawing them out without the harse stripping effect of a chemical soap
  • Lavender – The Evening Ritual – scented with pure essential oils and naturally tinted with a soft earthy purple by alkanet root, the lavender calms the mind turning a simple wash into a grounding experience
  • Calendula – The Healer – often called ‘Natures Gold’ infused calendula petals are a powerhouse for skin repair, helping soothe minor abrasions, dry patches. Rich, golden and deeply restorative.
  • Chamomile – The Gentle Flower – infused with chamomile ‘The herb of the sun’ naturally anti-inflammatory working in harmony with the golden guernsey milk to soothe irritated skin and promote a peaceful complexion
  • Turmeric and Orange – The Brightener – A vibrant bar for a natural glow, turmeric is celebrated for its anti-inflammatory and brightening properties, while sweet orange provides a vitamin C boost. A truly sunshine bar for evening out skin tone.

My Story

The spark – I love all things nature

I’ve always been a strong, independent Lancashire lass, growing up in a rural farming environment, with animals always playing centre stage in my life, dogs, cats, ponies were always my sanctuary, and just 'being' in nature fulfils my heart and soul still to this day.

I have had a professional career and brought up my two children on my own, while I was always ready to enjoy something created by me and if that could also turn a profit, I was happy.

I love the alchemy of soap making and with my continued dissatisfaction of the chemical products found on our shelves felt urged to develop something different natural and chemical free.

I decided that goats milk soap and in particular the Golden Guernsey goat would be able to help me reach that goal

I chose to purchase Royal golden guernsey goats, to protect something the world is quietly losing while the dairy industry moved towards high volume, commercial goat breeds.

I’m now the steward of a small herd of royal golden Guernsey goats, the Ammil herd, there are fewer than 1500 of these, honey-coloured goats left on earth, they aren’t just livestock they are a living heritage
